(EJNews) – During the last few weeks at Talmud Torah School students and staff have been hyped about planting trees and celebrating Tu Bi’shvat. Our tree leaders, Nathaniel Vogel, Reuben Soibelman and myself, have taken on the responsibility of encouraging the school community to buy trees. We have been busy collecting envelopes, reminding students to buy trees, telling the students tree puns, and singing the jingle of the campaign around the school.
This year, Jewish National Fund (JNF) will be planting trees at the entrance to Eilat to create a 6.5 km parkway, providing a shaded recreation area for residents and children to walk, play and bike. Last year, Talmud Torah families donated money for 164 trees, totaling $2,780.00. This year, we are hoping to reach our new goal of 180 trees or more.
This is my second year as a tree leader, as well as my last year at Talmud Torah School. I have had such an amazing experience working with the students and teachers discussing this amazing Mitzvah we are all participating in. I would like to thank those of you who have bought trees so far and the teachers and students who are supporting our campaign.
If you have not yet supported this worthy cause, please contact the local JNF office at 780-481-7881, or go to www.jnf.ca to purchase your trees. Please mention Talmud Torah’s name so we can add these trees to our goal list.
Thank you for helping our school to plant trees in Eilat!
