There were many highlights to the wonderful Yom Yerushalayim March for Unity event held in Edmonton on May 17. It was great for the community to have the opportunity to celebrate the unification of Jerusalem and it was all the more special because so many groups were involved in sponsoring the event.
As one participant noted, “It’s fantastic to see so many people here and so many organizations representing all facets of Jewish life in Edmonton. We all have much more in common than our differences.”
One of the gems of the event was a story circle sponsored by PJ Library, which is a Jewish Family Engagement initiative brought to our community by the Jewish Federation of Edmonton. PJ Library promotes literacy for children aged six months to 8 years, by providing free, high quality children’s books or CDs each month to its members.
It also hosts a number of family readings and PJ parties throughout the year to celebrate literacy and help promote reading for and to children. PJ Library also helps encourage families to connect with and get involved in the Jewish Community.
